will not recieve fax. all ringers are set to on auto answer is set to on and still no answer. i have to press the auto answer button just to recive the fax

my fax can send but not recieve faxes. i have the auto answer on and distinctive rings. the only way to recive the fax is to sit by the machine and press auto answer when a fax is being sent to me. i tried turning the auto answer off and then fax and still i get the same reaction.. I have the hp pro 8500 can some one help??

It sounds like you are having a problem with the printer being set to auto answer but the fax is not answering. You'll want to contact HP Total Care from http://www.hp.com for more assistance.
