HPLIP

error: HPMUDEXT could not be loaded. Please check HPLIP installation.

I installed hplip in debian lenny, but both hp-setup and hp-check fail with the following error message:

error: HPMUDEXT could not be loaded. Please check HPLIP installation.

Nothing more...I already purged and reinstalled with no effect, can't find any suitable solutions in the web.

ldconfig -p doesn't list the file (even after running ldconfig) hpmudext.so which is located in

hplip: /usr/lib/python-support/hplip/python2.5/hpmudext.so

Any hints?
