automatic document feeder

Asked by suzannemiller

How do I use the automatic document feeder? I place papers as indicated, but it does not copy them. Instead, it tries to copy what is on the glass.

The HP Linux Imaging and Printing support (hosted and by Launchpad.net which is not affiliated with HP) only provides support for the HPLIP driver. For hardware questions please contact HP Total Care from http://www.hp.com

Thanks.

Aaron, In my humble opinion, it's not a great answer. Maybe suggesting to issue "hp-scan --adf" would have better helped.

Cheers

Your email told me to go to hp.com. When I did this my printer was not a choice I could choose from the dropdown menu. I have and hp officejet pro 8500. When I place documents into the automatic document feeder it does not feed. It tries to print what is on the glass. Can you help?

Suzanne/Elio,

This support forum only provides technical assistance for the HP Linux Imaging and Printing -driver- for Linux. From my understanding you are trying to put paper into the automatic document feeder and make copies from the device. The HP Linux Imaging and Printing project does not provide hardware technical assistance. All hardware support is provided by HP from the HP.com website. If you need more assistance please contact HP Total Care from http://www.hp.com.

You can access the printer manual here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3752456&

or contact HP Total Care here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/contacthp?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3752456&lang=en

Elio--from my understanding Suzanne is trying to make copies from the ADF -on the device-. Although HPLIP does support ADF scanning--if a user is having a hardware related question HP Total Care can help further.

Aaron, you too are right. Suzanne should better explain what she wants to do. My understanding was that she wants to scan pages from and ADF, and that she is under Linux. In such a case, her question is pertinent. Otherwise the HP assistance is the way to go.

Elio
