LaserJet 3330, Debian Testing: error: Device busy

Asked by westerngateguard

I've installed the latest hplip 3.9.8 (automatic installation).
After re-plugin the printer, hp-setup recognized it but on next step there was "communication error". On Windows (I have dual boot) printer works normally.
I runned hp-setup, steps 2 and 3 taked long time, but finally the printer was added. But it's status is "busy":

There is hp-check info:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine
if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built
HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and
run-time dependencies).

Saving output in log file: hp-check.log

Initializing. Please wait...

It still says the device is busy. Is the device in an error state? If not try power cycling the printer. If that still doesn't work try the printer on a windows system and make sure that the printer is working correctly.

Thanks.

It was really stupid issue:
I'm running VirtualBox (with virtual Windows machine) and the printer was connected (as USB device) to the virtual Windows machine.
When I disconnected the printer from VirtualBox, it started to work properly.
Sorry for the mess,
Yigal
