HP officejet j4680 will not print using wireless connection

Asked by kris10mo

I have configured my HP officejet j4680 using Ubuntu Linux 8.04 and a linksys wireless router. The printer will print documents when connected with through USB cable, but will not connect wirelessly. Have tired several things, here are the results to my hp-check -t:

kristen@kristen:~$ hp-check -t

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Sorry for the confusion. Try configuring the printer to your network, get the printer IP address (should be something like 192.168.1.2) and then run:

hp-makeuri 192.169.1.2

To get the printer IP address you may need to look in the printer manual for the specific steps.

:)

Looks good.

If you run

sudo hp-setup

and then select network, manual network detection and enter the IP address.

hp-setup should then detect and configure the printer queue.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it!

Aaron
