upgrading HPLIP in Ubuntu

Asked by Bob

What is the easiest way to up grade my version of HPLIP in ubuntu 9.04?

I am going to buy a new all in one and the version it needs is at least 3.9.6 and I have 3.9.2.

Just download the file from the HPLIP site and install it over my existing version?

Thanks in advance. Bob.

For Ubuntu you can use the automatic installer.

Instructions for using the automatic installer here:

Thanks for your support for HPLIP--we appreciate it.

Thanks, just a question to clear this up.

I do not have to remove my 3.9.2 version of hplip which is already installed on my ubuntu 9.04 machine before I run the installer?

Thanks in advance. Bob.

The automatic installer will remove any current versions of HPLIP that are installed.
