OfficeJet 5505 via LAN

Asked by Koose

Hi folks!

I have an OfficeJet 5505. If I connect it directly via USB it works perfektly with HPLIP. But I want to use it while it is connected to my router.

My router is a U.S. Robotics Wireless MAXg ADSL Gateway witch has a printserver with the Internet Printing Protocol via http. So the address of my printer is: http://192.168.1.1:1631/printers/OfficeJet5505LAN

Is there a possibility to use HPLIP over http?

What I tried was: I installed the printer over USB. Then I conected it to the router and changes the address in the CUPS configuration, but it wont work.

Any ather suggestions?

HPLIP only supports HP Jetdirect for connecting to networked printers. Other devices do not allow the correct communication and we do not test them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
