lost ability to print after kernel update

help! i can no longer print in ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty) after a kernel update. hp-check reveals an unable to connect error though i was able to print and scan just the other day. i have tried reinstalling the latest hplip via the auto installer after successfully removing the old install and still cannot communicate with my device. anybody there able to help me out? Thanks!

It looks like HPLIP can't talk to the printer. Try deleting the printer queue, power cycle the printer, then run: sudo hp-setup to configure the printer again.

no such luck. have recycled printer and computer power, the printer que is empty. hp-setup gave me:

Like I said I can ping the printer from my machine, and it was working just the other day. any ideas what might have happened to cause this? again, thanks for your help.

well, thanks for your help, i managed to solve it myself. was justs a firewall problem. reconfigured and all is good. thanks again.
