HP C6380 won't print

Asked by Dom The Bomb

Hello!

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, and my printer is an HP Photosmart C6380. After installing HPLIP 3.6.9 (using the tarball, coz the .run kept screwing up with some sort of "make" command error 2 or something) i found that i could Scan using Xsane but the printer will not print. The printer is connected to a DLINK DSL-G604T router wirelessly, and my Ubuntu machine is connected via ethernet.

here's the output of hp-check -t

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

HPLIP does not support third party (non HP Jetdirect) network sharing devices. In most cases these third party devices to not allow the correct communication for HPLIP to function.

It looks like some of the correct communication is happening for scan to work..however we can't promise that printing or other functionality will.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Aaron
