Suddenly cannot print landscape.

Asked by adair

Running Ubuntu 'Jaunty', using HP K5400 inkjet for last three months---no problems. In the last week I can no longer print a document in landscape format. Regardless of whether 'Landscape' or 'Portrait' is selected the text is rotated 90 degrees to the paper, so lines run off the page. Normal portrait documents are not affected.

When choosing 'print preview' through, say, Evince, the page displays correctly, but when 'Print' is activated the display changes to a portrait page with landscape text running off the side.

I have tried printing through Evince, Okular, gv, and xpdf. I have reinstalled CUPS, Foomatic, and HPLIP. No change. Oddly Openoffice displays a graphical representation of a page in 'portrait' mode when 'landscape' is selected and visa versa, and has the same problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards, Adair.

Possibly narrowed it down a bit. Openoffice prints landscape fine if the document is produced natively. So, there maybe a bug in the the software that prepares LaTeX documents for printing (DVI/PS/PDF), as documents imported into Openoffice from LaTeX, using 'latex2rtf' bring the problem with them. Interesting (and bloody irritating as I can't print DVI/PS/PDF documents in landscape), but looking like not being a HPLIP problem.

Thanks for the update.

Setting to answered for now.

If you continue to have a problem run hp-check -t and post the output.
