Trouble printing graphic in letterhead

Asked by mikes

I am using Ubuntu Version 8.04 LTS. The issue is seen with both an officejet j6480 and a Deskjet 6940. I am connecting to the printers by a network connection. The problem is seen with hplip-2.8.9 and higher. Hplip-2,8.7 and lower seem to work fine. The problem is seen with both computers that are on the network one a desktop and the other a laptop both running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
The issue is when I print an Open Office letter with a color (PNG) graphic Logo in the letterhead the computer stalls and runs very slow. The document will eventually print but some of the text is garbled. Through Open Office writer I have saved the files as an ODT, a Microsoft DOC and an Adobe PDF. The result is the same. If I remove the PNG logo from the letterhead the letter will print fine. It seems like something changed between hplip-2.8.7 and 2.8.9 that is causing this issue. I would like to use the latest hplip but can't because of this issue. Is there something that I can do to make this work or should I file a bug report?
Thanks

Please run hp-check -t and post the output.

Also lets convert this to a bug so you can attach the file (if possible) and I'll do some testing with the file you are using. Can you try using a different logo image? and do you get the same results?

Thanks.

Aaron,
In the process of getting the information that you requested, I installed the new hplip 3.9.6 driver on one of my computers and it seems to have resolved the issue. I need to install and test on two other computers to be sure. I will post the results in a day or two.
Thanks

Thanks Aaron,
It looks like the HPLIP 3.9.6 driver took care of the problem. I have it running on all computers and the problem documents are printing fine. Thanks to HP for their support of Linux.
