will manual install instructions for HPLIP work with RHEL 4.1

Asked by Darryl

Trying to install an HP LJ p3005 on a RHEL 4.1/Dell PS390 system.
Instructions for doing a manual HPLIP install are available for
RHEL5. Will these same instructions work for RHEL4.1?
HPLIP does not appear to be currently installed on the system and
the drivers on the system do not suppor the P3005 printer.
I am having issues with the information being plotted starts at
the extreme edge of the paper and leaves a gap that the other
end of the page. (The printed info is not centered top to bottom
on the page properly.)
Thanks.

The basic instructions will guide you through what is needed to install. I can't say 100% sure that the instructions will work with 4.1, but if you use it as a general guide you should be able to get through the install. You could try the RHEL 5 rpm as well..although I can't promise it will work.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it.
