If you run hp-check and if HPLIP is installed you'll get a lot of output.

Try installing HPLIP from source from our website:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Then configure the printer using:

su -c "hp-setup"

Thanks.

user uuico may have mistyped the command "hp-check -t" as hp-check-t" (no space between the 'check' and' -t') [I know I did the first time] hth

I have installed “hplip-3.9.4b.run” than
Connect the printer on the Linux machine and install the printer and was able to print to it.

But when I reconnect the printer to the Windows 2003 Server and try to install the printer has a remote device the Linux machine could not detect the printer.

I know that the Linux machine can see the printer because when I use YaST and install the printer using
“Print via Network”,
“Receive Printer Information from Remote CUPS server”
“Connection Wizard”,
“Print Via Print Server Machine” ,
“ Microsoft Windows/SAMBA (SMB/CIFS)” ;
fill the relevant “Connection Setting” and “Test Connection”and got a “OK” results
but I could not print!

I than went back “su -c hp-setup” use
“Device Discavery”
“Network/Ethernet/Wireless network”
it did not detect the printer than I try
“Discovery Option” and “Manual Discovery “
With no lack .
What I am doing wrong ???
Thank you for your help

HPLIP does not support printing to a Windows shared printer.

For printing to a shared windows printer from linux you can do a search something like:

http://www.google.com/search?q=printing+to+shared+windows+printer+from+linux&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a

Sorry for the confusion.
