Asked by mherweg

HP Deskjet 4110 prints everything 7mm too far left

... so the first 7mm on the left are missing and there is unused space on the right side of each page.
I tried cups test page, a pdf and libre office - all the same issue.

Driver: drvless.ppd
Description: HP Deskjet 4100 series E81145_USB

Media Limits: 0.12 x 0.50 to 8.15 x 11.58 ... is this correct ?

can I choose between using driverless and hplip ?

how can I fix this ?

It seems like the issue you're experiencing with your HP Deskjet 4110 is related to the print alignment, with everything printing 7mm too far to the left. To address this problem, you can try the following steps:

Check Print Settings:
Ensure that your print settings in applications like LibreOffice or the PDF viewer are correctly configured. Verify that the paper size, orientation, and margins are set appropriately.

Adjust Margins in Software:
Some applications allow you to adjust margins within the software. Check if there is an option to manually set margins, and try adjusting them to see if it resolves the alignment issue.

Driver Settings:
Since you mentioned using the "drvless.ppd" driver, consider trying the HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing) driver instead. You can install HPLIP and configure your printer with it. Make sure to select the correct model and series during the installation process.

bash
sudo apt-get install hplip
sudo hp-setup
Media Limits:
The media limits you provided (0.12 x 0.50 to 8.15 x 11.58) seem reasonable, but double-check the specifications for your printer to ensure they match. You can usually find this information in the printer manual or on the HP website.

Check for Firmware Updates:
Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates that address printing issues. Check the HP website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.

Printer Calibration:
Some printers have a calibration or alignment function. Check your printer manual for instructions on how to calibrate or align the print heads. This might help correct any misalignment issues.

Contact HP Support:
If the issue persists after trying the above steps, consider reaching out to HP support for assistance. They may provide additional troubleshooting steps or firmware updates that could resolve the problem.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and hopefully resolve the alignment issue with your HP Deskjet 4110.
