I can't get my printer up and running. It is a HP DeskJet 4155e and I don't understand most of the instructions.

Asked by Victoria Fisher

I am trying to get my HP DeskJet 4155e printer connected to my computer and I don't understand most of the instructions. I am computer illiterate and don't understand most of the of the wording that is used. I don't have anyone that can help me either. I have a Telikin computer. I have tried downloading the HPLIP software by using sourceforge.net (i think that is right) and nothing happens after that. When I go to the instructions I am totally lost.

I have never head of Telikin computers so far, but a web search indicates that these systems are running a very specific operating system (Tiny Core Linux) and I very much doubt that it is possible to install or use HPLIP on it.

If the file with the HPLIP software that you have downloaded has got a name like hplip-3.23.12.run, then you have to open a terminal window (if that is possible on Telikin computers), change directory (cd) to the directory where you have stored the file and then execute the command "sh ./hplip-3.23.12.run"
Then follow the prompts of the installer. I have no knowledge whether that works on your system.

Eventually it is required to do a manual installation.

I suggest that you ask at Telikin support, or support for Tiny Core Linux.

Can you help with this problem?
