scanner don't work for hp envy 6000 series on linux mint 19.3

Asked by Cyrilux

Hi, every body. My new HP Envy 6000 Series is working to print but it's impossible to do work the scanner. I try to install the plugin hplip-3.23.12-plugin.run on my Linux Mint 19.3 OS. but after a fail message a window says: HP Device proprietary plug-in is missing. Click "next" to continue plug-in installation and after click: Failed to install Plug-in. Either you have chosen to skip the Plug-in installation or entered incorrect Password.
If however this plug-in exists in developers for Linux how to get it... Thank you for your valuable help.

(Additional info: I went to the web page 'https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins', I opened the plugin (you can’t download it directly) then copy-paste and 'sudo sh hplip-3.23.12-plugin.run' and finally without 'sudo' but I got a first error message: MD5 is not: eoc74 fh... I changed it to the one indicated and it worked!!! but a new error message: impossible to open is not compressed in "gz" format. I converted the file to put it back in good condition and installation and started then I was asked my password what I did and after a few moments, finally "done". But alas it still does not work!!)

"I opened the plugin (you can’t download it directly)" - That's nonsense.

Visit the page https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins with your web browser, do a right mouse click on the link to the version of the plugins fitting to the version of HPLIP that you have installed on your system, and in the pop-up that you get select "save target as..." (or "save link as...", exact text depending on the browser that you use) to store the installer on your hard disk.
Then open a terminal window, change directory (cd) to where the file is stored and start the plugin installation with the command ./hplip-(version_number)-plugin.run
