OfficeJet Pro 7740 does not recognize new ink cartridge

I do not know what to do next. Ran out of ink in all cartridges. Got a new black 952XL yesterday. After installing the new cartridge, I get the following message: "Depleted Cartridges must be replaced to resume printing." I have removed and reinserted the new cartridge several times, but the same message keeps reappearing. I need to print with black ink only. Do I have to replace blue, red, and yellow cartridges in order to resume printing in black? I believe my printer should now print in black ink, but it only says that depleted cartridges must be replaced. What should I do?

I shook the new cartridge and can hear liquid ink sloshing inside, so the new cartridge is not completely dry.
