Drivers for new HP Laser Color MFP179fnw not yet listed

Asked by Alastair Budge-Reid

I have just purchased the captioned printer and it seems it is so new it is not listed on the HPLIP site.
Do you have a time when this will be included and until then are there any options to enable me to use this printer?. I am running openSUSE Leap 15.4.

There is some info from HP in a file titled "uld" but I have no idea how to use them and there are no installation notes.

Grateful for any guidance please.

On a wider subject of HPLIP I ran the installation script from the HPLIP website and ran into a few (possibly 4 or 5) dependency issues. I wanted to post the details and try and sort out the missing files myself but couldn't copy the text from the window which was running. Dumb question but how can get a text file of the run window please?

Regards,
Alastair.

It is not listed because it is not supported by HPLIP.

I am not prepared to oversee installing ULD drivers.
However, I know the HP Laser Color MFP179fnw to
de a driverless device. Mention its connection method
and give the output from the command

  driverless

Hi Brian,
I am not a coder as is clear. I was able to find the Cups driverless "driver" which came up but have been trying and failing to install using Yast>Add Printer.

Tried quite a few versions of what I found but no joy so far.

Should I be looking somewhere else?
