no print output from laserjet 1020 despite seeing job completed message

I am using Linuxfx. I have almost installed a HP Laserjet printer. When I send a test page from the HPLIP dialogue box it says the job has been started and then a few moments later that the print job has completed. The printer rotates the roller and flashes the orange light on and off but there is no paper print out.

No replies but I found a solution elsewhere so I thought I would post it to help others. Thanks to isbjörnen

So essentially you only have to run this one-liner:

sudo apt purge ippusbxd

and then unplug/replug your printer. I re-ran sudo hp-check and all errors had gone and scanning worked like a charm.
