Problem with install scanner M127fn

Asked by Wagner Elias

Dear

System configuration: Kernel: 5.4.0-124-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.4.0 Desktop: MATE 1.26.0
wm: marco dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

HPLIP version: 3.22.6
Device manager version: 15.0(Qt4)

Problem:
I have a LaserJet MFP m127fn printer, i have already added it in HP Device Manager and now I'm trying to install Scan driver.
When I click at scan icon gives me an error informing that it's necessary to install a new driver for this function. At the firts step I choose for download from an HP authorized server, at next I agree to the terms of license, and then ask me for root password.

Here is the problem, I've already changed root password to be sure that the correct password is been given but always I get two messages:
First: "Plugin install failed"
Second: "Failed to install Plug-in. Either you have chosen to skip the Plugin-in installation or entered incorrect Password."

I'm sure that I am typing the correct root password, because I can change to root user with "su root" command with it.

Can you help me with this issue? thanks a lot!

Can you scan with

  simple-scan "airscan:w0:HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn[00A731]"
or
  xsane "airscan:w0:HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn[00A731]" ?

Complementing,

simple-scan finds the new scanner but doesn't scan anything and doesn't
give any error also.

xsane finds the new scanner and scans the document.

Thank you, Wagner. Why simple-scan (which is the same as Document
Scanner) fails, I do not know. Just bringing up xsane should offer airscan
as a choice.

Anyway, this is an alternative to HPLIP and its plugin. Hopefully, it is a
suitable one for you. I'm afraid I do not intend to deal with HPLIP.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Wagner Elias for more information if necessary.
