HP 24 inch wide printers: T210, T230, T250

Asked by Lewis Balentine

Personally I would love to have a Z6 but $800 for a set of cartridges, not to mention the $2,700 to purchase a Z6, is a bit more than my wallet can tolerate .... and I really do not want to downgrade to Microsoft Windows.

I was very surprised to see that HP T200 series was not included in the supported printer list.

So my simple question is:
Would some kind person show some love for for these models and add the necessary bits to make them work?

and because someone will always ask:
I am running Linux Mint 20.3 Una 64-bit with the MATE 1.26.0 user interface, on an HP Elite 8300 SFF with i7-3770 CPU and 32 GB of Ram.

thank thee :-)

If it is any help the user guide says that this series uses HP PCL3GUI printer control language.

Mint 20.3 looks good for the job. Which machine do you
have? USB or network connected?

Well I do not have the printer yet because I am not going to purchase one until I know drivers exist for it.(I already made that mistake with a Canon G6020) ....

I am looking at the HP T210 ... I do not need a lot speed or photo quality .... just a wider print.

My preference would always be hardwired cat 6 Ethernet (10/100/1000).

FYI:
I am also looking at a commercial product call "Turboprint for Linux"
https://www.turboprint.info/

The specs are at

 https://www.hp.com/ca-en/shop/product.aspx?id=8AG32A&opt=B1K&sel=PRN

One of the print languages is URF. The printer therefore does
AirPrint, which is fully supported on Mint with its driverless
printing system.

Yep ... same thing they say about the Canon G6020.
I had to buy a Windows computer to perform routine maintenance on it (clean the heads, deep cleaning, run check prints, etc.).
... and everything from the rear multi-sheet tray prints upside down.
Scanner works ... most of the time.

I'd have thought that being able to print from Mint was the
primary objective and a big step forward. Routine maintenance
is done from the printer's front panel or the Embedded Web
Server.

The necessary bits are already present in the printer's firmware.
They allow printiing from Mint 20.3. I reckon this issue should be
marked as solved. That's irrespective of whether the printer is
possessed.

OK ...
I guess I was spoiled by my old HP printer that worked so well using the HPLIP driver.
I am just disappointed the newer equipment can not use it as well.
cheers ...

Understandable, but don't expect upstream HPLIP to pop in here and
give a technical explanation. Just be grateful our printing system has
a solution and the situation is under control.

I have decided to purchase an "Epson T2170" and "Turboprint for Linux" instead.
Turboprint has a really nice UI.

Cheers
