config on linux

Asked by Levenok

Hello,
I'm looking to buy a HP 178nw laser printer. I saw there's a pilot for linux, but don't know if it's possible to configure the printer (especially the connexion to the server) from linux (maybe by USB) or android, as I have an android phone.
Thank you in advance for your answer
Virginie

The HP 178nw laser is completely compatible with Linux and Andoid.

Hi Brian,
So I bought the printer, but I am unable to configure it even though I installed hplip. Ubuntu recognizes the printer, I can access to it with its local address, but when I try to install it with the hp manager, I get an "error device not found" message even on USB.
What can I do?
Thank in advance
Virginie

Go to

  https://github.com/alexpevzner/sane-airscan

Note your scanner is supported.

Move on to

  https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/pzz/xUbuntu_20.04/amd64/

Download sane-airscan. OK?

ok, thank you, I can scan with my old software even if it's not as easy as I hoped it would be... An idea when hpuiscan will work on ubuntu 20.04?

Hi Bernard,
It's the one I got and it doesn't work on my computer (it doesn't "see" the printer even if ubuntu does)

When you open a print page for the printer the top right
of the screen has a drop down box to select which printer to use.

Can you help with this problem?
