Não reconhecimento e erro de instalação do plugin para scanner

For manually installing the plugin download the *.run file in the same version as your HPLIP installation from https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins and install it by executing the command
sh ./hplip-3.22.2-plugin.run
("cd" into the right directory first and replace the version number accordingly)

I entered into the command sh./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run and got bash: sh./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run: No such file or directory
My version details show 3.20.11+dfsg0-1+lmtrfocal

When I try to download /run 3.22.2 from the site I get error messages. I can't share the screenshot here but it says:
There was a problem opening the file /home/my name/Downloads/hplip-3.22.2.run.
The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document. You can also choose another character encoding and try again.

I didn't edit the file so I have no idea what this means and why it won't download.

Different errors:

1. "The file you opened has some invalid characters."
You must not doubleclick the file, but you have to open a terminal window and start the installation with the command
sh ./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run

2. "bash: sh./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run: No such file or directory"
In the terminal window you have to change directory into the directory where you have stored the installer file, maybe "cd Downloads" or something similar and only afterwards execute the command to start the installation.

3. If you have installed HPLIP version 3.20.11-*, then you have to install the plugin file in the same version (3.20.11).

I get this when I enter in the command sh: 0: Can't open ./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run

I have really no experience with command line details (since high school in the 1980s). Apologies for my ignorance.

I assume that you already have downloaded the hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run file.
In which directory did you store it?

I installed it from my system software manager, editor's picks (Hplip-gui and Hplip). I have no idea where it's stored.

Looking at this chart it appears Linux and HP are only compatible using laser and not inkjet (mine is Deskjet 2752e and it's not on this list). In the Linux FB group everyone said all HP printers work fine and are compatible with Linux. Yes, this new one prints but it's functionality is limited since I can't scan or fax with it. Guess I'm out of luck.

You are confusing the basic software packages and the plugin installer.!

It goes to my download folder but I get multiple issues as I stated before.

Every time I've tried to download an orange bar pops up after it's done with the following message:

There was a problem opening the file /home/mindy/Desktop/hplip-3.22.2.run.

The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document.
You can also choose another character encoding and try again.

No matter where I try to save it I get the same message. I'm not editing anything.

For a download of the plugin installer you have to visit the page https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins and do a right-click on the link with the version number of your HPLIP installation, and on the pop-up windows you have to select "save link as" or "save target as" (exact works depend on the browser that you use) and then select a directory where to store that file. (e.g. Downloads or Desktop).

Then open a terminal window and execute the commands

cd Downloads
or
cd Desktop
depending on the directory where you have stored the plugin installer file and the start the installation with the command
sh ./hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run
(Replace the version number with the number of the version that you have downloaded!)

I was able to download version 3.22.2 to the desktop. Yes, I went to the https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins

I re-ran it and it and the scanner seems to be working! The xsane window popped up so I'll need to look into that and play around a little more. Thanks for your help!
