HPLIP

I can't scan

Since I changed the OS from Windows to openSUSE I cannot scan with the multifunction printer. I have installed the hplip driver from both the Suse (3.21.10) and HP (3.22.2) repositories and I have access to print, configuration and toner status, but it always gives me the error "Error during I/O device."
On mobile devices with HPSmart everything works perfectly, but not on Linux.
My OS is openSUSE Leap 15.3
The printer is HP Color LaserJet MFP M280nw

I haven't a clue about openSUSE and haven't any desire to debug HPLIP.
That does not mean we cannot get scanning workig.

Have you a USB or network connection?

I have the computer connected to a neutral hub as well as the printer,
since the main router assigns the IP to them. The router is a Linksys Velop.

This sounds like you have the device connected to the network. Give

  avahi-browse -rt _ipp._tcp

and

  avahi-browse -rt _uscan._tcp

Finally!!! Now Brian works, I open the Xsane application that came with
the OS and the option to scan with the eSCL driver appears and it works
perfectly. Even so, in any application that allows scanning, I choose
the eSCL driver and both the tray and the sheet feeder work perfectly. I
don't quite understand how the original HP driver (hpaio) with the same
IP address as the printer doesn't work and the one you recommended does,
but the important thing is that everything is going great.

Well done! I am very pleased you are now scanning. I do not know
why hpaio didn't work.
