"Diagnose HPLIP Driver" closes Terminal window before I could read it

Asked by Jan Halkes

I am working on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and installed HPLIP-3.21.4 version on 31-05-2021 after my printer HP Deskjet 3000 J310 Series did not want to print anything. Ubuntu's printer manager said "job completed" but the printer remained quiet, doing absolutely nothing.
That problem is solved now, and I have now a nice HP Device Manager on my desktop.
Curious as I am, I tried to use the option with the hammer, named Diagnose HPLIP Driver. Clicking on the hammer did open a Terminal Window showing interesting program results but before I could have read everything, the Terminal Window closed, without warning. That seems a bug to me, but maybe it is something else.
Is it possible to start a Diagnose session outside the HP Device Manager by using the Terminal Window manually? What command should I use for that?
