m180nw won't scan - says missing plug in

attempt scan (worked fine last week, now nothing). Says missing plug-in, and "Failed to open device 'hpaio:/net/HP_ColorLaserJet_MFP_M178-M181?ip=192.168.0.34'
I am seriously considering making this trash a boat-anchor. Never had a problem with my D110 until the printer went south. Maybe time to switch to non HP product
