my 1050a printer scanner connected to my chromebook prints but won't scan

My hp1050A all in one 410g worked ok with my old desk top but will only print and copy with the chromebook it is connected via usb cable.
I go to settings my printer is listed as is scan But when I click on scan message says scanner not cnnected
