Borderless 4x6 printing fails for 9015

I'm trying to print borderless on 4x6 photo paper. I printed from GIMP and I printed from the command line:

lpr -o PageSize=Photo4x6.FB -o OutputMode=Photo -o MediaType=Glossy testphoto.jpg

and in neither case did I get borderless output. I have about 2mm border on the left and 4mm on the right. Printing the same image from a mac produces correct borderless output.

Note that borderless printing worked fine with my previous printer, the 8610.

I have hplip 3.20.5 installed.

I looked at the hp-check-t output and it claims that a variety of things are missing or incompatible. I'm on Ubuntu 20.10. Some of the "Missing" things seem to be development stuff. Are they needed?

But why does it say cups is "incompatible"? How do I get the compatible version?

I also don't understand why the printer has to appear multiple times under different names. I named it "wallaby" and have been printing to it there.

I have a second problem and was going to open a second question, but maybe it's all related: I get horizontal white lines in images if I print in "normal" quality. I have to use "best" quality to get acceptable output. (Here I mean just any embedded images in output, not photos.)
