Scanner not working in Ubuntu 20.04

Asked by Navin Talati

My OS is Ubuntu 20.04

The default Document Scanner is not working. Either it scanes 1 or 2 pages and hangs or sometimes hangs even in opening.

I also installed HPLIP form its official web:
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/install/install/index
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/
It also hangs. Not working.

The Printer is HP LaserJet M1005 MFP

How to resolve this issues.

Hi ,

You are seeing this issue because of ippusbxd process running in Ubuntu which is holding all the USB interfaces and failed to scan .
It is an issue from Ubutnu distro.

Below is temporary solution:

1. Scan via network
2. kill ippusbxd process and try to scan via below command:

ps -aux | grep "ippusbxd"
kill -9 PID
