Can't get hplip to install. Use Linux OS

would actually like to talk to someone one on one to help with this issue. Have tried downloading hplip numerous times and it will not run. Tried auto installer it doesn't run either. Communication error from printer, so now can't print, status of printer is not being sent to hpink..so guess I'm paying for nothing.
