failure of colour printing

Asked by Chris Waters

Hp pagewide pro 477 dw print black & white OK
but ifiit is asked from Ubuntu 16.04 16 bit to priot a coloured file
Iam instructed to load tray 1, if I do that a paper jam is reported. This is not true.

The printer prints coloured file from Win7 32 bit OK

This points to software some where
I ran bash ....r

I ran hp-check -t and no problems are reported.

Chris

Folks,

An observation hat may help.

I have found that when the program MS Paint asks for a colour print it
is successful.

No other program in Windows (or Linux) will do so.

Today (4/3/2021) I see thatsome work on the HP printer has been done, thick lines in Sudoku puzzles did not print.
Pintin these puzzles today in Windows7 Pro worked but with a new stap of a HP pgae requesting a print. This Worker but hung up occasionally.
Back to linux, I asked to print aa Sudoku puzzle. This rpoduce the message on the screen of the printer
"Loas plain 3X5 paper in paper tray 1 (I have never used tray 1.
When this faile I asked Thunderbird to print a sn\hort email , which it did AND the Sudoku puzzle waprintes(correctly) on the other side of the page.
But this the the massage quoted above stos the puzzle print and it is not on the otther side of the paper when the same email is printed.
