How to scan checks on Linux

Asked by Michael Jones

I have an HP DeskJet 3755. I've installed hplip 3.20.5 on ubuntu. I can't seem to get it to scan just the actual size of the check; it always creates a full-page image. Is there any way to get it to just return the actual size of the paper being scanned? Or do I have to use something like Gimp to crop it after the fact?
