Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdw not scanning

I am an end user with little linux experience. Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdw is not scanning.

What could be the issue?

Hi ,

Please provide the distro details.
Have you installed plugin file?
What error are you getting while scaning?
Are you able to scan via simple-scan?

I am running openSUSE Tumbleweed 20201117, KDE Plasma Version 5.20.3

I have a HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdw

 When I try to install the plugin the installer says:

 /home/moya/.hplip/hplip-3.20.6-plugin.run file does not match its checksum. File may have been corrupted or altered

then:

Failed to install Plug-in.
Either you have chosen to skip the Plug-in installation or entered incorrect Password.

I will try simple-scan. I hadn't heard of that before.

I downloaded simple-scan. It seemed like it read my printer/scanner, but when I tried to do a scan, the plugin installer opened (hplip) again, and it failed the same way as before.

Any ideas?
