problem with installing a hp envy 6032 all-in-one under linux 19.3
I' ve installed Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon 64-bit on my computer.
With this computer I want to use a HP Envy 6032 all-in-one printer/scanner.
I' ve installed the printer with the following programs:
- hplip-3.20.6.run
- hplip-3.
Now I want to use the scanner part of the printer.
When using XSANE I get the following error message "Couldn' t find device 'hpaio:
I almost immediately get a pop-up screen from HP Device Manager-Plug-In Installer.
This screen informs me that a Driver Plug-In is required. Message reads as follows: "HP Device proprietary plug-in is missing. Click 'Next' to continue plug-in istallation. In case of plugin download failure, run 'hp-plugin' command from the terminal manually.
After clicking "Next" I'm given the option to download and install the plug-in from an HP authorized server (recommended option) or if I have already a copy of the file to specify a path to this file.
I choose to download the plug-in from an HP authorized server but then i receive the following message "/home/
As a result the scanner is not working at the moment.
what can I do to solve this problem and to get the scanner and the printer running properly?
FYI;
I haven' t inserted the inkt cartridges in the printer yet, because I intend to bring the device back to the reseller when I won' t get the device running properly. However I don' t know if the absence of the cartridges has any influence on the scanner part working properly,
Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
One request: I only have a small knowledge and understanding of Linux, so please send clear instructions
Best regards,
Theo

I do not fancy sorting out an HPLIP non-free plugin issue. So
download and install sane-airscan:
https:/
https:/
I would appreciate having what you get for
scanimage -L
airscan-discover

Hello Brian,
thank you for your fast reply to my problem.
I've tried to download and install sane-airscan but it doesn' t seem to work.
I've followed the link https:/
Then I followed the second link https:/
First file IPP-USB_
Second file sane-airscan-
Third file is the same program as the program that is already been installed.

This file is the one you want. It is dated 10.10.20. Did you install
it after that date?
It is less complex for me to guide you if you were not using a USB
connection. Wireless would be better from my point of view
should we continue with sane-airscan.
However, I'll give you the only technique I know of to install a plugin
and we can go from there. If it works, fine.
Download the plugin you need from
https:/
and install it with
sh YOUR_PLUGUN_
Any joy?
Cheers,
Brian.

Hello Brian,
Thank you for your help providing me the plugin that I need.
However i feel very dumb to have to ask you this, but how I can download that specific file.
When I click on the file that I need, it is opened in my browser.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Theo

Hello Brian,
Would like to inform you that I've got the printer and the scanner up and running.
I've done the following steps:
- complete re-installation of Linux Mint 19.3
- check if I used the correct version of sane-scan
- installing the printer as a wireless-printer with hplip-3.20.6.run.
- I then had a difficulty downloading hplip-3.
However apparently I didn' t need that plugin.
I finally succeeded in getting the scanner and printer up and running by following the instructions in
https:/
When running XSane I was surprised by having a working scanner.
Many thanks for your assistance in helping this inexperienced user solving his problem.
Best regards,
Theo
