Enabling HP TouchSmart 520 Touch Screen
I purchased a used HP SmartTouch 520-1050 to use when playing the piano for displaying my music. The touch screen would make it easy to change pages. I did a fresh Ubuntu Studio 20.04 install. The touch screen wasn't sensed during the installation and therefore hasn't been enabled.
I've seen various software hacks and requests for the touch screen feature to be available after the year 2014. I'm reaching out to ask if you'd consider this for Ubuntu (Studio) 20.04. An example of a recent request from August 2020 is here: https:/
I found the following steps at https:/
sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf2.13 xorg-dev xserver-xorg-dev xutils-dev libtool debhelper
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 libc6-i386 lib32tinfo5 libc6-i386
sudo dpkg -i xf86-input-
sudo dpkg -i nwfermi-
I want to draw attention that these were the steps to enable the touch screen for the HP SmartTouch 600-1050 model. I wonder if these might work with my HP SmartTouch 520-1050.
I want to highlight my HP SmartTouch 520-1050 is a 64 bit operating system. From what I surmise in these software packages this is trying to get 32 bit software running on it.
I've reached out to you because "hplip" effortlessly installed my HP LaserJet 1012 (from ~2002) into Ubuntu Studio 20.04. I don't know what the correct Project is.
