Process failed due to attribute error

I am getting this error message when trying to install "hplip-3.16.7.run" The message is - AttributeError: module 'platform' has no attribute 'dist'

My Linux distribution and version is Ubuntu 20.4
Printer is HP LaserJet 1020 Plus

You seem to be using very old HPLIP.

Can you please download latest HPLIP from the portal
