Need Plug-in 3.12.6 to Get LaserJet to Print after New Driver

Asked by Martin Jensen

Four times I installed a driver for USB connection to LaserJet Pro printer, got confirmation of "Ready", but printer refused to print Test Page and error message said proprietary plug-in required. HP advises plug-in is 3.12.6. But installing that failed repeatedly because "ed-update" refused to activate ("command not found"). Amateur at work here, checked half-dozen professional experts' advice but to no avail. Where can I get technical help?

Operating system is  Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS.

Printer is HP LaserJet Professional P1109w, connected by USB to desktop.

Hi ,

You are using very old HPLIP driver.
Could you please download the latest driver from below link:

https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip

Also you do not require plugin to print anymore. You only require plugins in order to scan:

Can you help with this problem?
