Cannot disable duplex printing

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 setup via the IP address
Printing and scanning both work
duplex printing works, but sometimes I want to revert to printing on one side but cannot
HPLIP Toolbox, Print Settings shows...
Duplex (Print on both sides of paper) Single Sided

I realized that I need to set this at the time I print from my PDF reader, word processor, etc. (Print Setup or equivalent)
