HP Officejet 3833 prints fro Android devices but not from Ubuntu OS on my laptop

Asked by RayArdia on 2020-06-16

My Officejet 3833 print via WiFi OK from my Android devices, (Redmi Note 7 phone and BQ Aquaris tablet) but will not print fro my Ubuntu laptop. Usual error message is "Printer not found".
I have asked questions on Ask Ubuntu, Launchpad etc but have received no help at all.

Hi,

Officejet 3833 is not supported by HPLIP yet.

Please refer below release notes for the supported printers:

The printer works fine via Android and will SOMETIMES print from my Ubuntu laptop but only after a delay of several minutes.
When I got this printer and installed it (to replace a 3830 which had been acting in the same way as this 3833 now is), it worked perfectly, it was only a few weeks later that it started to misbehave.
I now find the best solution is to send any documents to my phone as an email attachment and print from there - a rather long-winded solution!

I STILL need an answer.
