No plugin for HP Deskjet Plus 4152

Asked by Everett Crosiar

I just purchased an HP 4152 PLUS model printer which was the only printer available anywhere in my area that was available. I am running linux mint 19.3 and installed the latest /home/owner/Desktop/hplip-3.20.5.run driver without any problem using the instructions you provided at https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing. However when I try to scan a document using the Simplescan app it says I am missing a plugin. I have googled for the plugin with no luck. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cordially,

Everett Crosiar

Thanks Shivani1708, I did some additional research and here is what worked for me (finally after 3 days of searching and trying a lot of suggestions that didn't work!).

Install apparmor utils

sudo apt-get install apparmor-utils

Run

sudo aa-disable /usr/share/hplip/plugin.py

Run as normal user, not as root:

hp-plugin

When you open hp-plugin and tell it to download it will give you an error message and ask if you want to continue, The answer is yes. it installed and my scanner now works.
