Raspberry and CUPS : Need driver for HP Laser MFP 135a

Asked by MOLINA Laurent

Hello,
I want to use a Raspberry to manage my new HP Laser MFP 135a printer with CUPS.
It works with my HP Deskjet F2480 because the printer name exists in CUPS.
But for this new printer, I can't find it.
Is it possible to create one by myself (how to do it)?
Or could I use another similar?
Or could you provide one driver to add it in CUPS, please?
My Raspberry is on Rasbian, but I can switch to Ubuntu Mate if needed.

Regards,
Laurent

FTR (but I imagine it is of little use on Raspbian):

The recommended solution lies with

You have a solution for Ubuntu Mate. Your have a more general
solution that suits the Raspberry.

Any chance that you might want to help other users and mark
whether you see the issue as solved?

Brian.

Hello,
Yes I will post my test result.

Yesterday I tried to install Ubuntu mate, but I don't know if a 64Gb is too much for my Raspberry 3B because I had lots of bugs, crashes and very slow system just to start it.
With a 16Gb sd it was better, but I spent a lot of time to have a good screen resolution of my 5inch screen in 800x480, not perfect result in display for the moment.
And to finish, a very long system update.

I was unable to setup my HP Laser MFP 135a with CUPS as an IPP Everywhere Server as said in that link.

I found a PPD in /etc/cups/ppd but that did not work either. it's printing gibberish. I have no idea how to setup CUPS and there are no easy to follow tutorials out there.

Can you help with this problem?
