PSC 1315 Slow print

Asked by DanieleAbbatelli

I have an HP PSC 1315 all-in-one printer, that works perfectly on windows.

But, with Ubuntu, it is very slow (more than a minute for a white/black page) and the print quality it's worst than windows (characters are dark gray instead of black).

I'm on Jaunty Jackalope, but I had the same problems with Intrepid.

hp-check -t says "No errors or warnings" (I have installed every missing package).

How can i solve?

I don't see any printer queues defined for this device.

Please run:

sudo hp-setup

to configure the printer.

Then try printing and if you still have a problem post an update.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it.

It didn't change anything...

I tried the configuration with the manual discovery of the USB (with the results of lsusb), it founds my printer and uses drv:///hpijs.drv/hp-psc_1310_series-hpijs.ppd...

As usual, 70 seconds for a simple B/W page ad the quality is worst than windows...

And, after setup, in hp-check -t:

---------------------------------
| INSTALLED CUPS PRINTER QUEUES |
---------------------------------

warning: No queues found.

Also during the printing (I launched this hp-check -t while printer was working).

daniele@daniele-desktop:~$ ls /etc/cups/ppd
psc-1310-series.ppd PSC_1315.ppd PSC1315.ppd

I have created PSC_1315 and PSC1315 with hp-setup, the first one was the default one.

Some news...

Things goes better if I create a .ps file and I print that.
40 seconds for a B/W page (instead of 70) and the quality is perfect (black is really black and not gray).

But windows do it better... Less than 15 seconds for the same document, and perfect quality.

Thank you.

HPLIP does have some speed and/or quality issues with this device.

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/psc/psc_1310_series.html

Support for this device is listed as "Partial":

Printing supported but possibly at limited speed or print quality; scanning and/or faxing on some multifunction devices may not be supported by HPLIP. HP personnel monitor Launchpad forum posts and attempt (but cannot guarantee) to answer questions posted for this support class.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
