Plugin installation failed

Asked by Ron

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with a HP LaserJet P1006 printer. I've removed hplip and re-installed with the latest version. I ran the Device > Diagnose HPLIP Driver and a plugin is missing. I follow the steps and agree to license. I get an error stating the plugin installation failed. The firmware was successful . This all started because portrait does not work.

I downloaded the .run file and installed.  It stated that 64 files
needed to be installed, nothing was happening. I then ran the diagnostic
in hp and it wanted the .asc file as well, I saved that in the same
place as the .run. I then did the diagnostic again and it wouldn't
accept the key.  That's where I'm at now.
