problem numerising documents from hp laserjet pro mfp

Asked by Myriam Michel on 2020-01-31

I'm using ubuntu 19.10 and I have installed hplip-3.19.12 to communicate with our new printer LaserJet Pro MFP M148dw. The printing does work but the numerisation does not: when I launch the linux application "Numériseur de documents"3.34.1, it "sees" the HP printer but when asking to numerize, it fails to connect to it

How is it possible to use the scan function of my HP printer ?

thanks in advance.

Please give what you get for 'lpinfo -t'.

lpinfo does not recognize the option -t...

I tried 'hp-info -i' ; and status history says "scan job failed - required plug-in not found"

Do you know any plug-in I should install ?

Apologies. I meant 'lpstat -v'.

here is what it gives :
matériel pour HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148-M149 : hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148-M149?ip=192.168.0.208
matériel pour HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148dw_E8C24B_ : implicitclass://HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148dw_E8C24B_/

What happens with

 scanimage -d hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148-M149?ip=192.168.0.208 > image.pnm

Does the scanner work?

You could also execute 'hp-plugin'.

Myriam Michel (mymichel) said : #7

I executed "scanimage -d hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_M148-M149?ip=192.168.0.208 > image.pnm"
=> It works, I got a file image.pnm, but with very low quality.

So I also executed 'hp-plugin' : Success ! My numerising application now works perfectly ! Thanks a lot !
