cannot install plugin

when i plug in the HP Laserjet P1006 cable into the USB connector an announcement tells me that a proprietary plugin is required. when i run hp-setup the plugin installation fails. what can i do to solve this problem? running Ubuntu 9.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1501.

We have a fix for a plugin install problem that will be released in a day or so.

the HPLIP 3.9.4b installation solved my problem. thank you very much. it was very satisfying seeing the test page. thanks again.
