When I turn printer on and push print, it goes through an allignment before letting me print --how do I get out of this

Asked by stephie liska

It is an HP 6500. I turn the printer on and try and print. It comes up with a 5-10 minute alignment and prints, very slowly a page of light and dark dashes. When this is done, I can usually print. Many times it does it again. I go through too many cartridges and time. How can I stop this. People at the store I purchased it have no idea. Thank you very much for your help

Hi,

You can manually turn off the 'Align Cartridges ' option in printer. Or you can click cancel button once it starts aligning the cartridges.

When I hadn't heard from you I googled my printer. I mentioned to turn off the alignment. Gave steps to go to set up, tools, then ok. Then press right arrow to select alignment and turn it off. There was no place to turn it off. Tried several other things and it kept going back to alignment. Now nothing prints. I just get blank pages. I have tried printing and copying. Nothing. Any ideas!!! I would appreciate any help at all.

I see you mentioned turning off the align cartridge option in a message above. Once it starts the aligning it just says busy when I press the cancel button. Also I can't find anything to cancel the Align Cartirdge.
