Unable to download and install plugin for HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw

Asked by Mark Kelley on 2019-10-31

When I run hp-setup to attempt to download the necessary plugin for my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw printer, either with or without sudo, it always fails, giving the error message:

error: unable to receive key from keyserver

I am running Ubuntu 19.10 now, but had the exact same problem with Ubuntu 19.04, 18.10, and 18.04. The printer is set up as a network printer.

Is there anything I can do?

Thank you.

Mark Kelley

Thanks, Brian! I went back to that previous message, and then back to one before that, and found this:

  Hi,

Can you try installing plugin using below command:
  $sh hplip-3.19.8.plugin.run

Please install plugin from below path:
  https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins

If you still face any issue after this, please let me know.

I did this (except I got the 3.19.10 plugin), and it worked! All's good now! Thanks!
