installing latest HPLIP on Ubuntu 18.04 stalled

HP AIO 6700 not scanning. HP-check indicates 13 missing dependencies. downloaded latest (3.19.8) HPLIP. Install is stalled at "sudo apt-get install --assume yes tesseract-ocr-all (Scanjet-depend step7), under the heading of RUNNING SCANJET DEPENDENCY COMMANDS. This is an upgrade as my ubuntu 18.04 already had HPLIP 3.17.10 installed and I told the installer to "remove and install". now the system is hung. there is no activity on the hard drive but the little DOS spinner is still going around. What do I do?

It finally continued after about 40 minutes. HPLIP is now installed, however, I have another problem. I will ask another question because now my device is ALWAYS busy. you can close/complete this question. thanks
