hp-plugin fail "python gobjet/dbus may not be installed"

Asked by Augustin Lefevre on 2019-08-28

Hello,

Sorry, I have checked through previous threads mentioning this error, but I get this error when running the hp-xxxx-plugin.run which I downloaded directly from hp developer portal. What can I do ? I'm running on Ubuntu 18.04. I tried version 3.19.8. Now I'm going to try 3.19.6 to see if it works ...

Hi,

Here is the workaround for your query:
Can you please install plugin using below command instead of hp-plugin:

$sh hp-xxxx-plugin.run

Meanwhile we will check the issue from our end.

Thanks,
Shivani

Eventually, what I did was :
- remove version 3.19.6, which I had installed
- remove the hplip package I had installed from Ubuntu repos
- re-installed version 3.17.11 and the corresponding plugin

And that worked for me.

By the way I am using HP Laser Jet m1536dnf MFP

And that's the solution. Thank you for your hints, this is now genuinely solved.

Best regards
