How long are HP printers supported via HPLIP?

Asked by Val on 2019-07-30

I'd like to know how many years HP use to support printers via HPLIP, generally speaking? Provided a given model is supported by HP at some point in time of course.

Does HP have a "general" support duration policy, after a given printer stopped being manufactured/sold? Or in case no official policy exists, what should customers expect in terms of support duration after their model has gone out of market?...

Thank you.

You can check supported printers in HPLIP and their support from below link:

Thanks Shivani, but this does not answer my question unfortunately.
I'm not asking which printers are supported, but for _how_long_ they are supported.

All I could read on is that:

"HP’s goal is to continue to add newly introduced products to this list and NOT to remove older products in order to provide maximum benefit to customers with older HP products."

This sounds like good news, but reading further:

"Full - End-of-Support":
"The HP product has reached the end of support life, meaning the HPLIP solution is considered “As-is”. No further HPLIP code changes will be implemented by HP. [...] As of the end-of-support date, device functions and features available from the product and available from HPLIP should continue to function but cannot be guaranteed to continue to work in subsequent HPLIP releases."

So my question would be: which event(s) lead(s) a printer to reach end-of-support status?

In addition, I could also read in the HPLIP 3.9.2 Release Notes:

"Support policy change -- End of support date is added to all HPLIP supported devices"

But where is that date?... I couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks again!
